Eli Manning will miss the New York Giants' next exhibition game, although the sprain to the quarterback's right elbow doesn't appear to be serious enough for him to miss any regular season contests.
Further examination yesterday by team doctor Russell Warren confirmed that Manning has a sprain and a bruise of his elbow, injured during New York's 27-21 win Saturday night over Carolina.
Manning will miss Friday's game against the New York Jets.
* PANTHERS: Running back Stephen Davis was on the field for the first time this training camp, participating in a few individual drills.
Davis had microfracture surgery on his right knee last November and the Panthers have been hesitant to allow him to practice. All-pro defensive end Julius Peppers missed practice to rest a sore right ankle.
* TITANS: Top draft pick Adam Jones finally signed his five-year contract and joined Tennessee's practice after a holdout caused him to miss 31 sessions.
Jones had hoped to practice Sunday after agreeing in principle to a deal Wednesday, but the complicated contract had to be approved by the NFL and the players' association.
* BROWNS: Cornerback Gary Baxter did not practice, two days after suffering a concussion in an exhibition game against Detroit. Also, running back Lee Suggs remained sidelined (sprained left ankle).
* COWBOYS 18, SEAHAWKS 10: In one half, rookie defensive end Demarcus Ware forced two fumbles, recovered one, had an interception, a sack and three tackles in Dallas's 18-10 preseason victory over the Seahawks in Seattle. Jose Cortez was 3 for 3 on field goals, connecting from 44, 37 and 46 yards for Dallas.
