Twins: Lost LF Shannon Stewart to a strained left shoulder last night when he caught a line drive and ran into the wall. Stewart, who was sent for X-rays, threw the ball back to the infield quickly before clutching his shoulder in pain.

1940: In the Tigers' 12-1 victory at Fenway Park, Red Sox LF Ted Williams pitched the last two innings, allowing one run on three hits.
1983: Orioles LHP Tippy Martinez picked off three runners in the 10th inning as the Blue Jays tried to take advantage of battery mate, Len Sakata, an infielder pressed into service behind the plate. Sakata hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning to win the game, 7-4.
