Braves: LHP Mike Hampton, on the disabled list for the fourth time this season, has been told to rest for three to five days after an MRI exam showed he has a herniated disk.
Lee Kelly, a back specialist, examined Hampton yesterday, determined a change from a bulging disk to a herniated one and gave him an epidural injection.
Hampton (5-3), who also has been bothered by a stiff forearm this season, is eligible to come off the disabled list on Sept. 4.
Brewers: Top draft pick 3B Ryan Braun has a strained right (throwing) elbow and is going to rest until the Arizona Instructional League starts up next month.
Diamondbacks: Optioned RHP Greg Aquino, the club's closer the last half of last season, to Class AAA Tucson and recalled RHP Jason Bulger from Tucson.
