A pair of midfielders, senior Jimmy Carroll and junior Kieran Rice, should keep the Eagles in contention for another postseason run. . . . Georgetown Prep, which has won three straight IAC titles, has a new synthetic turf field with dimensions set by international rules (120 yards by 70 yards). That should benefit the speedy Little Hoyas, led by senior MF Jason Maggio and juniors Fro Adu and Johnny Daniels. . . . Sidwell Friends returns nine players from last season's MAC championship team. Senior MF Morgan Blanchet, junior MF Kevin Huang and sophomore F Joni Berhanu lead a team that emphasizes keeping the ball on the ground. . . .

Four all-Anne Arundel County players graduated from 4A state runner-up Old Mill, but first-team all-state central MF Andrew Engel returns for his senior season. The Patriots also are hoping for big things from junior F Jung Kim, who moved from South Korea. . . . Severna Park, the defending 3A South champion which has moved to 3A East, has 10 seniors. Honorable mention All-Met MF Taylor Young had 10 goals and 13 assists as a junior last year, and speedy forward Courtland Fudge is back after scoring nine goals last season. . . .Reigning 2A champion Atholton returns seven starters from last year's title team. Junior GK Sam Permutt will start in his first varsity season.
