Gonzaga holds the edge in recent history in its newly revived series against visiting Georgetown Prep. Playing for the first time since 1988, the Eagles won last season's game, 17-14. The contest between the Jesuit schools was supposed to be resumed in 2003 but was postponed because of Hurricane Isabel. Tomorrow's game kicks off at 1 p.m. at Gonzaga; tickets are $10 and will be sold at the gate. Proceeds benefit the Washington Jesuit Academy. Both teams are 1-0. . . .

When Falls Church City school George Mason travels to Stuart for tonight's 7:30 game, it will be the first meeting between the Mustangs, members of the Virginia A Bull Run District, and a AAA team in more than 20 years. George Mason has already proved it can play against teams from bigger classifications, shutting out Dominion, a AA school from Loudoun County, 31-0 last week. RB Travis Greene ran for 118 yards in that game. . . .

Freedom-Woodbridge plays at new Stafford County school Mountain View (0-1) in the varsity debut for Freedom, which went 7-2 last season as a junior varsity program. Mountain View is in its first season and has no seniors, but is playing a varsity schedule. The Wildcats dropped their opener to Atlee, 37-0. . . .

Brentsville goes for its 14th consecutive season-opening win when it plays at Battlefield tonight.

In Howard County tonight, Atholton will shoot for its first victory over visiting River Hill since 1997. The Raiders have seven starters back on both sides of the ball, including senior RB Matt Winger, who rushed for 993 yards last fall. River Hill will start junior Daniel Hostetler at quarterback. He takes over for his brother, Ben, who is now playing at Georgetown.
