The Washington Wizards will conduct training camp Oct. 4-9 on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

Practices will be closed to the public, but the Wizards will be host to a free scrimmage at VCU's Siegel Center on Oct. 8 at a time to be determined.

The Wizards open the preseason Oct. 10 at MCI Center against Cleveland and begin the regular season Nov. 2 at Toronto.

Mystics to Retain Adubato

Richie Adubato will return as the coach of the Washington Mystics, the team announced yesterday.

The Mystics finished 16-18 this season, Adubato's first with the team, but missed the playoffs after Washington lost six of its final eight games.

Adubato previously coached the New York Liberty for five seasons and has an overall record of 116-97 in the WNBA, the third winningest coach in league history.

Wizards Do Their Part

The Wizards are hosting a hot dog lunch to benefit the team's Hurricane Katrina relief fund today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MCI Center. For a minimum donation of $5, fans can eat with Wizards players, coaches and front office staff, including Coach Eddie Jordan and players Brendan Haywood and Jarvis Hayes. Fans should enter MCI Center through the F Street entrance.
