The realigned Virginia AAA Concorde District was generally considered to be the strongest in the Northern Region and it has met those expectations early in the season. Three of the Concorde's seven teams are ranked (Nos. 1. Robinson, 7. Centreville, 16. Oakton), and five are still undefeated (the three ranked teams, Herndon and Westfield). Concorde District teams have a combined 14-3 nonconference record. . . .

Edison running backs Devan Clark and Keone Kyle have scored seven of 11 touchdowns for the Eagles, who are off to a 3-0 start. Clark has rushed for 391 yards on 29 carries, while Kyle has added 102 yards and three touchdowns. . . .

No. 3 Hylton (2-0) is 15-0 all-time against Osbourn Park (2-0). The game pits two of the better passing combos in the area: Hylton QB Darius Reynolds and WR Marshall Dill have connected for four touchdowns, one fewer than the Osbourn Park tandem of QB Ed Bohl and WR Anthony Bratton. . . . Manassas Park (3-0) hasn't trailed in the fourth quarter of a game since its 19-18 comeback victory last season over Brentsville -- 14 games ago. . . .

Few teams have played a schedule as difficult as St. John's, whose only loss was to West Catholic of Philadelphia. Whether the tough nonconference slate proves beneficial should be known soon: the Cadets (2-1, 0-0 WCAC) play tonight at Good Counsel (1-2, 0-0) and host fifth-ranked DeMatha on Oct. 1. . . .

Wilson junior quarterback Jeff Brooks has helped propel the Tigers (2-1) to consecutive victories with a potent air and ground attack -- he has thrown and rushed for 268 combined yards with three touchdowns. The Tigers will face Bullis tonight in a non-league game.
