Antoine Rutherford rushed for two touchdowns and Jamar Smith ran for one score and caught a pass for another as Howard defeated host Savannah State, 39-21, last night.
Rutherford rushed for a season-high 107 yards on 14 carries and scored the Bison's first two touchdowns on short runs. Howard (2-2) held Savannah State to minus-nine yards rushing but surrendered 303 yards passing to freshman quarterback Garrett Williams.
* GEORGETOWN 10, STONY BROOK 7: Nick Cangelosi threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Harrison Beacher late in the fourth quarter to lift the visiting Hoyas. Cangelosi completed 14 of 28 passes for 118 yards with one interception for the Hoyas (2-2). Georgetown's Brad Scoffern had kicked a 19-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to make it 7-3.
* CATHOLIC 28, RANDOLPH-MACON 24: Keith Ricca threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Nick Bublavi with 55 seconds remaining as the host Cardinals (1-3, 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) ended a 16-game skid.
* N.C. CENTRAL 38, BOWIE ST. 19: Corey Brown rushed for 107 yards for the host Eagles (5-0, 2-0 CIAA), who led 31-13 at halftime. Glenn Thomas caught three touchdown passes from Lamar Manigo for the Bulldogs (4-1, 1-1).
