Pittsburgh at Cincinnati: The Bengals are coming off a 31-23 win against the Titans that leaves them atop the AFC North at 5-1. The Steelers (3-2), who were without starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Hines Ward because of injuries, lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 23-17, in overtime when backup quarterback Tommy Maddox threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

San Diego at Philadelphia: The Eagles were on their bye yesterday after suffering one of their worst losses under Coach Andy Reid, 33-10 to Dallas two weeks ago. The rest could not have come at a better time for Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who is nursing an abdominal strain. The defense also gets an extra week to prepare for Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who is making his case as the best player in football this season.

Denver at New York Giants: The Broncos are the hottest team in the league after winning their fifth straight game, 28-20 over the New England Patriots, thanks largely to an efficient performance from quarterback Jake Plummer. The Giants entered yesterday as the league's highest-scoring team but could not get their offense going in a 16-13 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. New York fell into a three-way tie for second place in the NFC East at 3-2.

Injuries forced Steelers Hines Ward, left, Ben Roethlisberger to play the role of cheerleader.
