Redskins T Chris Samuels

vs. Bucs DE Simeon Rice

Samuels gutted it out last week on a sore knee and will have to do it again today against one of the league's best pass rushers. Rice has five sacks this season and has averaged almost 12 sacks a season since 1996. His bookend defensive end, Greg Spires, also is a fine pass rusher and between them they've had 64 sacks since 2002, second best among any NFL defensive line tandem.

Redskins CB Shawn Springs

vs. Bucs WR Joey Galloway

Galloway, 33, keeps improving with age. He has 12 touchdowns in the last 13 games -- 11 on catches and one on a punt return -- and has a touchdown reception in six of the Bucs' eight games this season.

Springs is the Redskins' best cover cornerback and likely will spend a good part of his day trying to keep Galloway, with 44 catches this season, from going deep. Galloway has been especially effective on third down, leading the league in third-down receiving yards with 301.

Buccaneers wide receiver Joey Galloway might be a handful for cornerback Shawn Springs. Galloway has 44 catches for 731 yards and six touchdowns this season.
