St. Louis at Seattle,

4:15 p.m.

Times in team history Seattle has started 7-2 (1999, 1984). The Seahawks can achieve that mark today with a win.

Times this season the Rams have scored fewer than 24 points in a game. Over the past three games, the Rams have run the ball 81 times and thrown it 79.

No, that's not a misprint.

Over the first five games, St. Louis passed 215 times and ran 101 times.

But since Joe Vitt took over for Coach Mike Martz, the Rams have been more balanced on offense.

One possible explanation is that St. Louis has been hurting at both quarterback and wide receiver. Marc Bulger (sprained shoulder) and Torry Holt (sprained knee ligament) have missed the past two games, and Isaac Bruce has missed the past five games with turf toe. All three are expected to play today.

Another reason is the emergence of running back Steven Jackson, who rushed for 179 yards in the Rams' last game, a 24-21 win over the Jaguars on Oct. 30.

But the biggest reason is probably the simple fact that Martz, who never saw a pass play he didn't like, hasn't been coaching because of health issues.
