DCIAA Football Title Game

. When: Today, 11.

. Where: Eastern High, 17th and East Capitol streets NE.

. Last meeting: Coolidge, 27-26 OT on Oct. 21.

What to Watch

. When Coolidge Has the Ball: Junior G Marvin Austin leads an experienced offensive line. Austin (6 feet 3, 300 pounds) can bench press nearly 400 pounds and is being recruited by several top Division I schools. "He makes their offense go," Dunbar Coach Craig Jefferies said. The other top linemen are junior T Lamar Milstead (6-5, 280) and junior G James Johnson (5-9, 260). Junior RB Dwan Thornton rushed for 123 yards in win over Crimson Tide last month. Dunbar counters with senior DB Vontae Davis (seven interceptions), sophomore DB Renaldo Curtis (6 interceptions) and junior DE Trevon Pitt (11 sacks).

. When Dunbar Has the Ball: The Crimson Tide has averaged 54 points in winning its three games since the loss to Coolidge; junior QB Nathan Bussey has thrown 14 touchdown passes in that span. His main target, junior WR Arrelious Benn, has received numerous scholarship offers, including one from Notre Dame earlier this week. The Crimson Tide has been hampered, however, after losing leading rusher Jerry Johnson for the year after he fractured his ankle against the Colts. Coolidge's defense is paced by senior LB Marcellus Jackson (75 tackles) and junior NG Marvin Austin (67 tackles, six sacks). Jackson, who transferred from Gar-Field three years ago, scored a 1,200 on the SAT and is being recruited by several Big East and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schools.
