Howard hired Carey Baileyas its football coach, the school announced yesterday. The Morgantown, W.Va., native becomes a head coach after 14 years as an assistant at six schools.
Bailey spent the last two seasons at Minnesota, serving as the defensive line coach. He began his coaching career as a secondary coach at West Virginia (1993-94) after a four-year playing career at Tennessee.
Bailey replaces Ray Petty, who was fired by the school in December after the Bison went 5-6 overall (4-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) last season.
