President Obama will deliver a “sweeping and comprehensive” speech on the Middle East next week, the White House said Friday.

Press Secretary Jay Carney said the president would offer his broader view on the "Arab Spring,” at the State Department on Thursday.

Obama has so far avoided offering any broad doctrine on the troubles in the Middle East, but the speech is likely to touch on the democratic uprisings in the region, as well as the death of Osama bin Laden.
