A taste of what will be at area farmers markets:
At Thursday’s FreshFarm Market in Penn Quarter, Anchor Nursery will have spinach ($4 per bag) and sweet potatoes ($1.50 per pound); Red Apron will have wild boar andouille ($13) and half-smokes ($12), goat, pork and beef stock ($5 per quart); Harvest Market DC will have polenta cake with mushroom ragout ($12), radish and cabbage salad with honey-ginger vinaigrette and roasted radishes with sesame seeds ($5 each); Dolcezza will have espresso gelato and various sorbets ($6 per half pint); Clear Spring Creamery will have strawberry probiotic yogurt smoothies ($2.50 per 8 ounces).
At Saturday’s Smart Market in Oakton, Cavanna Pasta will have porcini ravioli with asparagus, peas and lettuce; Angelic Beef will have meat, including short ribs.
At Sunday’s Takoma Park Farmers Market, Glenville Hollow Farms will have asparagus, spinach, lettuce, arugula, radish, tatsoi, onions, popcorn and patio tomatoes; Twin Springs Fruit Farm will have cut broccoli rabe, freshly cut lettuce, Swiss chard, arugula, winter squash, Vivaldi potatoes, Beauregard sweet potatoes and Copra onions, apples including Fuji, Goldrush and Pink Lady apples; Smith Meadows will have pestos and beef pot pie.
At Saturday’s FreshFarm Market in Silver Spring, Spring Valley Farm and Orchard will have asparagus, scallions, radishes and ramps; Evensong will have garlic mustard greens, watercress and nettles.
At Saturday’s H Street NE FreshFarm Market, Copper Pot will have arugula pappardelle($6); Red Apron will have pastrami and corned beef ($6) and mustard ($6); Carnivore BBQ will have smoked whole chicken; Richfield Farm will have spinach; Blueberry Hill Vegetables will have arugula, red Russian kale, radishes and green garlic.
At Sunday’s FreshFarm Market in Dupont Circle, Spring Valley Farm and Orchard will have wild-foraged ramps.
At Wednesday’s FreshFarm Market at Foggy Bottom, Blueberry Hill Vegetables will have arugula and garlic–mustard rabe.
At Wednesday’s USDA Indoors Farmers Market in the USDA South Building Cafeteria, C&T Produce will have cabbage (75 cents per pound), curly kale ($1.25 per pound), broccoli ($2.50 per pound), greenhouse tomatoes ($2 per pound), white potatoes (99 cents per pound), sweet potatoes (99 cents per pound), beets (99 cents per pound), cauliflower ($3 per head) and eggs ($3.50 per dozen).
The Smart Market at Fairfax Corner is open Tuesdays from 1:30-5:30 p.m.
The Smart Market at Reston is open Wednesdays from 3:30-7 p.m.
At Saturday’s FreshFarm Market in Silver Spring, Not2Cool Jazz will perform.
Sunday’s Smart Market in Gainesville will be closed fo Easter.
