Bryan Voltaggio will show his Range sometime in December. (Astrid Riecken for The Washington Post)

Didn’t think so.

So here’s your chance: The chef-restaurateur is set to open his first District-based restaurant, the meat-centric (but not meat-only) Range, located in the freshly renovated Chevy Chase Pavilion. As part of his three-night “pop-in” previews from Dec. 15-17, the “Top Chef” runner-up is giving away a free meal to the two best answers to this question:

Why do you think you should be among the first people to eat at Bryan Voltaggio’s Range?

Points will be awarded for style, originality and avoidance of all references to Voltaggio’s tattoos. Oh, yes, all responses must be 150 words or less, too.

More contest details after the jump.

Send your response to me at Include your name, address, e-mail and phone number, so we can contact you. All responses must be received by noon Friday, Dec. 7. The two winners will be selected by the Food section staff. Winners can bring one guest; the meal includes all food, but excludes alcohol and gratuity.

To learn more about Range, read the latest post on the Going Out Gurus blog.

Range is expected to open shortly after the preview pop-in around mid-December. Those who would rather just book a table for the preview evenings, Dec. 15-17, can make a reservation on the Range Web site, starting at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, which is only fitting: It’s Cyber Monday.

Range can be found on Twitter @VOLT_RANGE and on Facebook. The restaurant is located inside the Chevy Chase Pavilion at 5335 Wisconsin Ave. NW.
