Michelle Obama unveiled room after room of holiday sparkle at today’s preview of the White House holiday decorations. And now you can have a little of that presidential splendor in your own home! Well, sort of.

The annual holiday guidebook distributed to White House visitors — including the military families and media invited to this afternoon’s event — features a letter from the president and first lady , explanations of the decor and trivia tidbits. (Did you know Calvin Coolidge was the first president to issue a holiday greeting, which was printed in newspapers in 1927?) Included in the illustrated pages: a recipe for pumpkin cake with orange cream cheese frosting from the White House Pastry Kitchen, and some crafty instructions for creating your own paper replica of an East Garden Room tree.

Check out the guidebook below (the do-it-yourself bits are on pages 12, 14 and 15; click the first icon on the bottom of the module to view in full screen).

We here at ArtsPost have tried neither the cake nor the craft — but if you give them a shot, upload a photo of your White House creation to our holiday gallery.
