‘Jeopardy!’ announces contestants for D.C. ‘Power Players’ edition

The question is, “Who will be throttling their buzzers during ‘Jeopardy!’ at DAR Constitution Hall next weekend?”

See what we did there? The immortal answer-first quiz show will tape its third “Power Players” edition April 21 in the District (tickets are no longer available). Other competitors vying for $50,000 in charity money include Dr. Mehmet Oz, Thomas L. Friedman of The New York Times, Katty Kay of “BBC World News America,” Fox News’s Chris Wallace, Clarence Page of The Chicago Tribune, Lizzie O’Leary of CNN, and NBC’s Chuck Todd, Chris Matthews and Kelly O’Donnell. The shows will air May 14-18.

But more important: I will be interviewing host Alex Trebek tomorrow for a Style piece on the 28-year-old show, to be published next week. If you have burning questions for Trebek, or if you’re unduly obsessed with the show, e-mail me at or leave your thoughts in the comments.
