The Kennedy Center announced Wednesday that Barbara Cook, the ultimate Broadway and cabaret singer, is one of the 2011 Honorees.

In a statement center chairman David M. Rubenstein said, “With her sublime voice and rich performances, Barbara Cook has defined all that is best and brightest in the Great American Songbook.”

Cook won a Tony for her role as Marian the Librarian in “The Music Man” and she revived one of the plays most memorable songs--”Til There Was You” --for the Tony Awards in 1987.
