Leonard Nimoy (Spock, to you) will appear at B’nai Israel benefit

To mark the 45th anniversary of “Star Trek,” the B’nai Israel Congregation has invited Leonard Nimoy, the original Spock, to talk about his career.

His accomplishments in the arts goes far, far beyond the “Trek” franchise. Nimoy is also an accomplished photographer, director and writer. The Nimoy Family Foundation supports education and arts programs.

The event on May 18 at 6301 Montrose Road in Rockville will raise money for the congregation’s education programs.

“An Evening with Leonard Nimoy” will include the talk ($36 ticket) and a desert reception ($125 for lecture and reception).

Even for the non-Trekkies, this clip of Nimoy reading a “Top Ten List” on David Letterman’s show in 2009 is a theatrical hoot.
