The museums on the National Mall, including the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Museum of American History, will all open at 10 a.m.

The Smithsonian museums located off the Mall include the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, which open at 11:30 a.m. They are located at Gallery Place, 9th and G Streets N.W.

The Smithsonian decided to keep the Castle Building on the Mall closed. The Castle, the red-brick structure which is the oldest building on the Mall and houses many of the central administrative offices for the Smithsonian, had plaster fall on Tuesday in several areas. The Norman-style structure was built in 1857.

“More inspection is needed for the Castle because of the age of the building,” said Linda St. Thomas, the chief spokesperson for the Smithsonian.
