MLB playoffs 2011: Tigers at Rangers ALCS Game 6

Update, 12:28 a.m.: Texas overpowered Detroit, 15-5, to clinch the AL pennant and its second consecutive trip to the World Series. Nelson Cruz, whose six homers and 13 RBI set records for a playoff series, was named MVP.

Original post: Detroit stayed alive in the ALCS on Thursday thanks in part to gutsy performances from Justin Verlander and Delmon Young in the Tigers7-5 victory over the Texas Rangers. The Rangers lead the best-of-seven series three games to two.

The series continues Saturday night at 8:05 with Max Scherzer pitching for the Tigers and Derek Holland on the mound for the Rangers.
