Ahmadinejad meets Fidel Castro, who is ‘healthy and fit’ (photo)

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with Fidel Castro Wednesday in Havana, where the Iranian president and retired Cuban revolutionary discussed world events and posed for pictures. State run news agency Cubadebate on Thursday released a somewhat curious photo of the meeting:

The photo looks different and lower quality than other photos released of Ahmadinejad visiting Cuba. AP released the photo with the note: “Best Quality Available.”

Ahmadinejad afterward described the 85-year-old Castro as seeming “healthy and fit.” Raul Castro, the current president of Cuba, said his brother met with the Iranian leader for two hours, “a demonstration that his brain is working very well.” Fidel Castro stepped down in 2006 because of a life-threatening illness.

This was Ahmadinejad’s third stop on his four-nation tour in Latin America. On Tuesday, he visited with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who also has health problems, and joked about having an atomic bomb.
