You can fight for the deep-dish pizzas and Wrigley Fields all you want, but the best part of Chicago, hands down is the waterways and canals of the City of the Big Shoulders. I lived there for eight months and never understood the deep-seated love Chicagoans have for that wintery land until I took a ride on a boat and saw city for the first time as it should always be seen. Philip Bloom put together a quick-hit time lapse of a day spent on the canals. Take a three-minute boat ride:
