The flash mob phenomenon — people breaking into dance in crowded spaces — has been wearing on my last nerve. It’s just the same sight over and over again: a crowded shopping mall suddenly filled with some singing, toe-tapping folks and some shocked-expressioned folks.
However, a new flash mob style may be taking the genre in a much needed, much more interesting direction: teaching environmental lessons via flash mob. The premise: a lonely plastic bottle waits to be plucked from the ground and recycled. The victim: whoever walks by and takes care of things in an environmentally friendly fashion. The result: You have to watch the video.
