Rebecca Black: YouTube’s reuse of the bad to get to the great

Thirteen-year-old Rebecca Black took the Internet by storm with her oddly robotic, “fun/fun/fun” video “Friday” last week. The Internet repaid her first foray into musical history by ridiculing every aspect of her, watching her video 26 million times, and making her famous enough to ensure at least 16 minutes of fame.

But that’s not all the Internet has given back to the Rebecca Black fund. When a fresh-faced teenager gives the Internet lemons, it makes musical magic. Comedian Matt Mulholland took Black’s song to new heights (lows?). Listen to the way the song should always be sung: as a dark and moody epic power ballad:
