The Times’ Media Decoder blog reported Wednesday that the last time the journalists were in contact was Tuesday morning; unconfirmed reports suggest the group was captured by Libyan government forces.

“We have talked with officials of the Libyan government in Tripoli, and they tell us they are attempting to ascertain the whereabouts of our journalists,” said the paper’s executive editor, Bill Keller.

Also reported missing is reporter and videographer Stephen Farrell, and photographers Tyler Hicks and Lynsey Addario. Farrell was kidnapped by the Taliban in 2009 and was rescued by British commandos. Farrell wrote this piece recounting his days in captivity. Both Hicks and Addario have experience working in the Middle East.
