The holy month of Shrawan began last week for Hindu devotees. Celebrating the Lord Shiva, religious worshippers spend the month trekking to temples and holy sites. The most famous site is located in the Amarnath caves. This year, a three-tier security arrangement has been put in place for the Amarnath pilgrimage. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to traverse a mountain in revolt-torn Kashmir to worship a ice stalagmite at a location devotees belive Shiva once sat. Others will visit temples, leaving gifts of food, milk and honey before Shiva lingams. Here are some photographs of the celebrations around Southeast Asia:
