There’s something about Stevie Nicks. She’s become over the years, a high priestess for women, an emblem of some mystic ‘70s magic, as she sings and sways in her scarves. Even when she makes an appearance on the commercially blotted Dancing with the Stars, she still manages to pull off an enchanting appearance:

As a (male) colleague remarked, “I don’t understand the stranglehold Stevie Nicks has on woman of a certain generation.” He cited this scene from “School of Rock,” when Jack Black finally gets through to Joan Cusack’s stiff school marm with the help of Nicks:
