At least 15 people where killed in an offensive by Syrian troops Thursday in the city of Darayya, a suburb of Damascus.

Residents of Damascus said helicopters and tanks attacked Darayya and nearby Moadamiya, the AP reported.

Government forces attacked the Sunni Muslim town for 24 hours before soldiers began raiding houses, opposition sources told the Christian Science Monitor.
