Syrian troops try to retake Homs (live video)

Syrian troops tried to retake the Bab Amr neighborhood in Homs, an opposition stronghold, on Wednesday, The Post’s Liz Sly reports. Backed by tanks, the troops entered Baba Amr but were met with resistance from the rebel Free Syrian Army, according to activists.

An unnamed Syrian official told the Associated Press that the city would be “cleaned” within hours.

Monica Garcia Prieto, a Middle East correspondent for several Spanish-language news sites, tweeted this ominous message Wednesday:

We’ve lost communication with #BabaAmr media center yesterday night. Last message from there was ‘we gonna be killed very soon’ #Homs #Syria
