Despite seeing the worst floods in half a century, life continues in Thailand. A new Tumblr, Thai Flood Hacks celebrates the old saw: “necessity is the mother of invention.” From a bridge made of shopping carts to stool shoes, the blog posts images of the more creative solutions Thais have come up with to handle their new drenched world.

And while some parts of the country may be underwater until the new year, the government has started an intense recovery program. Plus, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Thailand to offer $10 million in aid. While the bottle-water boats are crafty, there is hope they won’t be needed much longer.
