On Wednesday, college students were encouraged to join.
The group Occupy Colleges was asking students to walk out of their classes at noon to protest on campus or join a local movement such as Occupy Wall Street or Occupy LA.
So far students at more than 75 schools have agreed to participate, according to the group’s Web site. The list is composed largely of New York schools, large state schools across the country and several community colleges.
To see what happens, you can follow the organizing group on Twitter, @OccupyColleges, or the hashtag #OccupyColleges. I also recommend following @StudentActivism, an account run by Angus Johnston, a historian who studies student activism and student government.
