Skins v. 49ers: Great tailgating weather lasts through the game

Today’s Daily Digit
A somewhat subjective rating of the
day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

A good deal of sun and a few degrees warmer than Saturday. Still, that 5:03 p.m. EST sunset drops the digit down by 1.

Today: Partly to mostly sunny. Mid-50s to near 60. | Tonight: Partly to mostly clear. Upper 30s to low 40s. | Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Near 60 to mid-60s. | A Look Ahead | Get Express Forecast by E-mail

It’s hard to complain about this pretty sweet, albeit somewhat cool, weather pattern we’re in. We remain partly to mostly sunny and dry right into midweek, with light winds too. And for those who like it a little warmer, well we’ve got good news on that front as well, with highs nearing 70 as we head into the middle part of our week. Splendid fall weather is here for an extended stay! Just plan to get out and enjoy before the sun sets, now an hour earlier.

Today (Sunday): With high pressure firmly in control, another nice-lookin’ day is on tap, and this one a touch warmer than the last. Highs should get to the mid-50s to near 60 with partly to mostly sunny skies and light winds. Sunset may be a shock, setting at 5:03 p.m.! Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Slowly a southerly breeze whittles away at our somewhat chilly air mass. Perhaps the threat of frost and freeze is outta here for a little while, too. Lows could still dip into the nippy upper 30s outside the Beltway to the low 40s downtown, beneath partly to mostly clear skies. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Could be billed “virtually warm” as temperatures head toward highs from near 60 to the mid-60s. Borderline too cool to meet Nice Day Sun criteria, though we’ll reassess for tomorrow’s forecast post. But perhaps a 9 or 10 for the daily digit? It may be dusk or dark as you leave work (assuming you work until around 5 p.m. or later) with sunset occurring at 5:02 p.m. Ugh. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Calm conditions continue with mostly clear skies and lows ranging from the upper 30s to mid-40s. Confidence: High

On Tuesday we may have a decent shot at the 70-degree mark, especially if high pressure holds on strong enough to keep skies partly to mostly sunny, which at this point it looks like it will. At minimum, highs should at least reach the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Wednesday starts off somewhat mild, with morning lows likely in the 40s region-wide, and may still eke out a decent amount of sun. But forecast confidence is on the low side given one weather system expected to be approaching from the west and another that should be centered off the Southeast coast. Highs should top out in the 60s, though 70 is within reach if sunshine manages to dominate. Confidence: Low-Medium
