The inviting, fresh spring air seemed to overtake the region yesterday evening. It was hard not to want to be outside. By the time we reach Thursday, we may run out of superlatives to describe the ongoing stretch of weather. Unfortunately, it’s just after that time when this tremendous weather pattern may break down with shower chances returning for the weekend.

Today (Monday): Simply beautiful. Glorious sunshine combines with a delightful breeze from the north (around 10 mph) for one of the best days of the spring. Highs reach the low-to-mid 70s. While it’s very pleasant outside, don’t forget the sunscreen with very high UV levels. Confidence: High

Tonight: Clear, calm, and cool but refreshing. It’s one of those nights where - even with lows in the 40s (40 colder suburbs, upper 40s downtown) - you might not need the heat on if you throw on an extra blanket. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Here’s day two in the picture perfect day streak. Cool high pressure continues to reach down from the north with that invigorating breeze while the May sun warms the air back into the mid-70s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Clear and cool again. It’s monotonous but marvelous. Lows range from near 40 in the colder suburbs to the upper 40s downtown. Confidence: High

We go for the nice day trifecta Wednesday with more sunshine and highs in the mid-70s. I doubt I’ll hear many complaints about the seasons “skipping” spring. Partly cloudy Wednesday night with lows in the low 40s in the cooler suburbs to near 50 downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

It’s possible we even manage a fourth top notch day Thursday as this sunny, mild pattern tries to hold on one more day. On the other hand, low pressure to the west is pushing eastward - so some high clouds probably move in and there’s even a 20 percent chance of a shower late, mainly west of town. Highs are again in the mid-70s. Partly cloudy Thursday night, with just an outside shot at a shower. Lows range from the upper 40s to mid-50s. Confidence: Medium

By no means do Friday through Sunday look like a total washout. On the other hand, the sunny, dry pattern is likely to move off to the east introducing more clouds and the chance of at least scattered showers with the best chance in the afternoon/evening. Highs each day are in the 70s with lows in the 50s but the timing/duration/coverage/intensity of rain is uncertain. Confidence:Low
