Forecast: Mild Monday then flipping the switch to summerlike warmth

Today: Increasing clouds. 65-70. | Tonight: Chance of showers late. 50-55. | Tomorrow: Variably cloudy, chance of shower/storm. Warmer. Near 80. | A Look Ahead | Get Express Forecast by E-mail

Today (Monday): We may start the day with partial sunshine but then it clouds over for the most part. High pressure to the east means mild air flow from the south/southeast (winds at around 10 mph) but the cloud cover holds back temps, with highs 65-70. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: A warm front passing through brings a chance (40-50% chance) of showers and maybe the rumble of thunder, mainly late, after midnight. Clouds and the arrival of the warm front produce mild overnight lows, ranging from 50-55. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): The warm front’s passage (from Monday night) adds about 10 degrees to high temperatures compared to Monday. A little wave of low pressure running along a front positioned to our north may (40% chance) spark some afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, it’s partly sunny with highs 75-80. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Any late afternoon showers/storms fade in the evening. Then it’s partly cloudy and mild, with lows 52-58 (suburbs-city). Confidence: Medium-High

Wednesday’s partly to mostly sunny and warm with a slight (20-30%) chance of an afternoon thundershower. Highs range from 80-85. Mild Wednesday night, with lows 54-61 (suburbs-city) Confidence: Medium

A taste of summer Thursday and Friday - with highs both days well into the 80s as a Bermuda high pumps in warm air. Thunderstorm chances these two days appear low at this point. I’d say highs of 82-86 Thursday and 84-88 Friday. Overnight lows are comfortable, with lows from the mid-to-upper 50s in the cooler suburbs to the low-to-mid 60s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

It trends a little cooler for the weekend, but far from cold. Of the two days, Saturday is probably warmer - with highs around 80. Sunday’s highs may drop back into the mid-to-upper 70s. The details depend on the timing of some of a cold front, which is difficult to pin down right now. The weekend doesn’t look like a washout, but we may have some showers and storms when the front comes through between late Saturday and late Sunday. Check back for updates. Confidence: Low-Medium
