Today (Thursday): Bright sunshine greets the dawn. As the day warms, a few clouds pop up and skitter across the sky. Winds gear up to 10-15 mph coming out of the northwest to put a bit of chill on opening day at Nationals Park. Highs top out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Confidence: High

Tonight: A perfectly clear sky gives a great opportunity to see Jupiter setting in the west quickly after the sun goes down. Evening readings are in the 50s but dropping quickly with light breezes. Lows should hold up in the mid-to-upper 30s, with lower 40s downtown. A few folks well to the west could see a bit of frost by dawn but it should be spotty. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): The wind takes a pass today as nearly calm conditions prevail. Temperatures do better as well with highs reaching the mid-60s or so. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Another fabulously clear evening allows viewing of Venus high in the sky. It is unusually bright now and in dark rural areas actually will cast a shadow. If you look hard enough Saturday you’ll be able to see it in the eastern sky at midday! The calm winds allow for a wide range of temperatures with upper 30s to mid-40s in the suburbs and upper 40s downtown. Confidence: High

Saturday is most definitely a get out and enjoy spring kind of day. Sun is in plentiful supply. Winds from the southwest pick up the pace as the day progresses, but with highs in the low-to-mid 70s, who cares? Great day for taking in the azaleas that are so beautiful right now all across the region. The evening readings in the 60s are just dandy too. Lows only make the low-to-mid 50s. Confidence: High

Sunday starts out mild and ends up downright balmy. Given the brisk winds out of the southwest under a mostly sunny sky, look for 80s to be widespread for highs. I would not be suprised at all to see us take a run at the records of 87 at Dulles and 89 at National. The only drawback is the strong breezes and dry conditions make grilling out a bad idea. A good excuse to go to the local cafe! The evening should still be warm but we do trade the 80s for 70s. Lows overnight range from mid-50s to lower 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Monday should end up being every bit as warm as Sunday but not as nice unless you have the day off to enjoy it. Sunshine should only occasionally be challenged by a few clouds. Highs should be mainly in the mid-to-upper 80s with some hot spot likely to take a shot at 90. Confidence: Medium
