FORECAST IN DETAIL

Right in time for the unofficial start of summer, we’ve got some big heat right around the corner. But first, we’ve got some little heat right ahead — nothing we have not already become accustomed to though. Temperature averages are just now hitting 80 degrees for highs, so we’ve been running above average for some time now. Come Monday and Tuesday, we might start to think these were days to relish.

Today (Saturday): Clouds may be a bit more abundant than lately, though we’re likely to see some sun as well. Shower risks are not super high as they look to be hit or miss, though especially during the afternoon they could be a little more numerous (40-50% risk at any location). Highs are held back slightly, only reaching the low-to-mid 80s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: It’s partly cloudy, continued muggy and mild. Those toasty summertime lows seem to be making themselves at home, and mid-60s to near 70 should do it. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Sunday): An upper-level ridge of high pressure begins to take hold and that means less in the way of clouds and more in the way of rising temperatures. Under partly to mostly sunny skies, most spots should top out in the mid-80s to near 90. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Good thing we’ve got Monday off, because this is an evening you might want to spend outdoors, especially as daytime temperatures are becoming a bit uncomfortable. No weather worries, but still very mild as lows reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

You might wonder if this is Memorial Day or the 4th of July when outside, as it’s likely to be the toastiest day in quite some time. Mostly sunny skies and a powerful upper-level ridge help temperatures jump to at least the mid-90s, and don’t be surprised if that becomes mixed with upper 90s as well. Confidence: Medium-High

Tuesday probably features more of the same with temperatures climbing off morning lows near-70 to the mid-70s and toward highs in the mid-90s. It should still be mostly sunny as well, as clouds largely hide from the high pressure overhead. Confidence: Medium-High
