A jam packed agenda has been set up for visitors - with presentations, demonstrations, tours, training opportunities, the appearance of VIP guests and more.
Doors open Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. Activities will take place outdoors, in tents, as well as within the NWS office.
* Attend a weather balloon launch. These will be done at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday and at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
* Take a tour inside the forecast office
* Attend the presentations: “A recipe for snow” and “June 2012 derecho” offered several times both Saturday and Sunday
* Become an official weather spotter by taking Skywarn training either Saturday or Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.- link to register. Once you have your spotter training, you are eligible to become a Capital Weather Watcher. Stop by our booth to enroll!

The NWS Sterling office serves not only Washington, D.C. but also Baltimore, central Virginia, nearby mountains, and southern Maryland, west of the Chesapeake Bay.
