PM Update: Clouds decrease tonight, and a decent Thursday is ahead

This was a tricky forecast day, with much warmer temperatures largely ending up confined just to our south. Abundant clouds, and even some light showers, impacted large part of the area. This helped keep temperatures in check. Even though it was cooler than forecast, readings in the mid-40s to the low 50s are still a good bit above average.

Through Tonight: The last of the light showers are quickly ending to the south and east, but clouds may take a while to fully break. Some spots are already seeing a bit of clearing though, which might help create a nice sunset? Either way, skies tend to clear through the evening and overnight. Lows eventually dip to near 30 in the cold spots, and the upper 30s or near 40 downtown.

Tomorrow (Thursday): Skies are mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with clouds tending to increase again late day. Behind the front, we have winds from the north around 5 to 10 mph with higher gusts. Highs reach the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Texas rains: A slow-moving storm system near the Texas/Mexico border has been dumping rain over the state (and now to the east) over the last day or two. Widespread areas of 2-4” of rain have fallen, with higher amounts also noted. Houston, Galveston and other spots have seen flash flooding. Of course, this rain is needed, due to the ongoing drought. Just not all at once, right?
