It was a light show manmade fireworks couldn’t hold a candle to. Facing south-southeast, Kevin Dzierwinski captured one of the most dramatic lightning images from Aldie, Va. I’ve seen in a while Wednesday night, July 4.

The lightning was triggered by a strong to severe thunderstorm around 10 p.m.

Kevin used a Nikon D2x with Nikkor 16-85mm lens set around 22mm focal length, at f/9. Exposure was 15 seconds, white balance was set to overcast, and the ISO was set to 400.
