Alexander Semin’s status against Flyers uncertain

When Alexander Semin missed Wednesday’s practice and was given what the team called a maintenance day, Coach Dale Hunter said he still expected the Russian forward to play against the Flyers here at Wells Fargo Center Thursday night.

After Semin missed the morning skate in Philadelphia with what is believed to be a lower-body injury, though, Hunter sounded less certain of the winger’s status.

“He’s still on maintenance right now. Game-time,” said Hunter, who was then asked if Semin would take warm-ups prior to the game. “We’ll see.”

Given the uncertainty of Semin’s status that leaves the forward line combinations somewhat in flux. Hunter did say that Joel Ward, who was a healthy scratched for performance reasons on Monday in Detroit, will take part in warmup.

If Semin doesn’t play, it’s likely the lines will look like they did in Wednesday’s practice, which were.

While the scratch among the forwards is unclear, it appears as though Dmitry Orlov and John Erskine will be out again among the defensemen.
