Capitals goalie Michal Neuvirth has missed three days of practice and a game with a lower-body injury, but Coach Bruce Boudreau said Friday that he expects the 23-year-old Czech to face shots at Kettler Capitals Iceplex Saturday morning.

“He’s getting better from all accounts,” Boudreau said. “He should be on the ice tomorrow for practice. I don’t know if he’s going to be backing up but we expect him to be on the ice practicing.”

Capitals director of media relations and occasional fill-in practice goalie “Sergey [Kocharov] had some holes in his game today,” Boudreau cracked.

The Capitals on Thursday recalled backup Braden Holtby from the Bears but reassigned him on Friday morning. Hershey is playing in Norfolk tonight, so Holtby is not far away if he’s needed in Washington.

“They’re in Norfolk tonight but he’s practicing in Hershey and is going to play tomorrow night in Hershey from all accounts,” Boudreau said. “If [Neuvirth’s] not able then we’ll have to recall somebody.”
