Here’s a quick primer from Prudential Center, where the Capitals will face the Devils tonight at 7 p.m:
●Martin Brodeur will make his third consecutive start for New Jersey, which is coming off a 4-1 loss to the Rangers but has won six of eight overall.
Brodeur, 39, enters with an un-Brodeur-like 8-9-0 record, .885 save percentage and 3.06 goals against average. He also has lost five straight starts vs. Washington.
●Devils defenseman Adam Larsson (21:55 per game) is home in Sweden for his grandmother’s funeral.
●New Jersey’s leading scorer, Patrik Elias, is expected to return after missing Tuesday’s game because of the flu. The 35-year-old center has 13 goals and 16 assists this season.
I’ll have more on Brodeur’s search for consistency, Pete DeBoer’s thoughts on old junior coaching rival Dale Hunter, and, of course, some updates on the Caps later.
