Washington downgraded winger Jay Beagle’s status to week-to-week Friday, the seventh consecutive day of practice the 26-year-old has missed since he was knocked out by Pittsburgh’s Arron Asham on Oct. 13.
While the Capitals will not disclose the Calgary native’s injury, it is safe to infer that Beagle suffered a concussion when he was punched in the head by Asham.
Beagle has not skated since Asham knocked him unconscious and caused him to fall to the ice at Consol Energy Center and there is no apparent timetable for his return. Beagle has not been made available to reporters since the fight in Pittsburgh and calls to the winger’s agent have not been returned.
Asked Thursday if Beagle had a concussion, Coach Bruce Boudreau replied: “You can infer whatever you want to infer. We’re just saying it’s day-to-day.”
