After trips to overtime in both of the first two games of this Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, it’s not too surprising that the Capitals are holding an optional practice at KCI Sunday.
Of the nine players on the ice, Jason Chimera is the only one who suited up for either Game 1 or 2 against the Bruins.
The rest of the group includes: Michal Neuvirth, Dany Sabourin, Dmitry Orlov, John Erskine, Mike Knuble, Jeff Halpern, Cody Eakin and Mattias Sjogren.
Neuvirth continues to make progress in his recovery from an injury to his left leg that occurred on April 5, when Florida Panthers forward Marco Sturm fell on him. The 24-year-old Czech has been taking shots in this session, moving easily around the crease in the butterfly position and occasionally making a dramatic save just for fun.
More to come.
