The Capitals are set to recall Tomas Kundratek from the AHL’s Hershey Bears. The move has not yet been announced by the team, but the defenseman is expected to be on the ice for the morning skate Wednesday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

Kundratek, 21 22, is a right-handed shot who checks in at 6 foot 2 and 192 pounds. The Czech blueliner has six goals and two assists with a plus-2 rating in 21 games with the Bears this season after he was acquired from the New York Rangers in exchange for winger Francois Bouchard back in November.

It is not immediately clear if Washington’s recall of Kundratek is related to the health of the other defensemen on the roster. Regardless, the Capitals will need to make at least one more move to fit Kundratek on the active roster, which has a maximum of 23 players.
