John Erskine expected to return to Capitals’ lineup against Blues

A few items of note from the Capitals’ morning skate at KCI as the team prepares for Dale Hunter’s first game as coach Tuesday night against the St. Louis Blues.

— Defenseman John Erskine is expected to return to the lineup. He has missed the past four contests after falling on his surgically-repaired left shoulder in practice back on Nov. 20. The blueliner said he’s good to go.

— Mike Green skated for a third time in the past four days on Tuesday morning prior to the main group taking the ice for their skate. Green has missed the past eight games with a strained right groin muscle. He did not speak to reporters.

— Jeff Schultz and Mathieu Perreault took part in the scratches skate this morning, so it appears as though they will be out of the mix for tonight’s contest.

— Tomas Vokoun was the first goaltender off the ice. He will get the start against St. Louis and be opposed by Jaroslav Halak.

— The lines this morning looked the same as they have in recent games, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see them change a bit as Hunter’s tenure progresses.

— More to come from Hunter’s press conference this morning.
