Marcus Johansson not on the ice for Capitals’ practice

The Capitals’ Thursday practice is underway here at KCI but Marcus Johansson is not among those taking part in the workout.

The second-year center is the only player on the active roster not on the ice this morning and has been given a mainentance day, according to a team spokesman. Johansson is expected to make the trip with the Capitals to New Jersey for Friday’s game against the Devils.

— Winger Jay Beagle, who has missed the last 10 games with a concussion, worked out on the ice alone this morning before the rest of the team went out on the ice.

— The Capitals have a few alterations to their forward line combinations in practice Thursday. Granted while this may be partially due to Johansson’s absence, there are more tweaks from the lineup that was used against Dallas than simply filling in for the 21-year-old Swede.
