Michal Neuvirth not on the ice for Capitals’ practice; new line combinations

Goaltender Michal Neuvirth is the only player not on the ice for the Capitals’ practice at KCI Wednesday morning.

Official word on Neuvirth’s status and the reason why he is not participating in practice will come from Coach Bruce Boudreau after the workout, according to a team spokesman.

In order for Washington to have two goaltenders in practice, the team’s director of media relations, Sergey Kocharov, has suited up for spot duty and is in net opposite Tomas Vokoun. Kocharov would occasionally serve as an emergency practice goaltender for the Coyotes during his time in the Phoenix public relations department as well.

— In other practice notes, after two games with the same line combinations Boudreau switched things up this morning. Troy Brouwer is now on the top line while Mike Knuble shifted to the second.

Here’s what the lines look like:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Brouwer
Semin-Johansson-Knuble
Chimera-Laich-Ward-King
Hendricks-Halpern-Beagle-Perreault
